Falaky — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 October 2026 · Applies to the Falaky Android, iOS, web and desktop apps, to Falaky Vast (section 3), and to the Falaky Staging and Falaky Dev test builds.
Falaky (فلكي) is a personal life-management app. Our design principle is simple: your data is yours. It is processed on your device wherever possible, synced only to your own account, never sold, and never used for advertising.
1. Data we collect
- Account data: your email address (and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile Google shares for sign-in), used solely to create and secure your account. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase Auth) and are never visible to us.
- Your Falaky profile and finding people (optional): a display name and, if you choose one, a username — shown only to the people you link with, or who ask you to. You decide whether others may find you by your exact username, your sign-in email or your phone number; each is off until you turn it on, and nobody can browse people or search by part of a name. If you add a phone number, we keep only a keyed one-way code of it (never the number itself) to match an exact search, and its last two digits so you can see which number is set. Each search records who searched, by what kind (username, email or phone) and whom it found — never what was typed — to limit abuse (20 searches an hour). Linking a person to another account waits for that person to accept, and either side can unlink at any time.
- Your content: the financial records you create — accounts, transactions, categories, shared-expense groups, settlements, and the people you add (their names, and an email or phone number if you enter one) — and what you keep in Time: tasks, habits and their check-ins, and reminders, with their notes. It also includes your vehicles with their odometer and fuel records, your saved views, and a timeline of what you do in the app (which part, what kind of action, when) that ties them together. This content is stored encrypted on your device and synced to our backend (a Supabase project we operate) so it follows you across your devices. Server-side access is isolated per user: our database enforces row-level security so an account can only ever read its own rows — and, for a group you share, the rows of that group, as below.
- Groups you share (optional): you can invite a group's members who are Falaky users to share it. Nothing is shown to anyone until they accept. Once they join, the members of that group see its expenses, events, shares and paybacks, the bill items of its expenses, who claimed which of them and who last changed each item, and the names the group gives its people (never anyone's email or phone number) — and can add to them, within the permissions the group gives them. They never see your own transactions, accounts, budgets, other groups or anything else of yours. When a member gives you a share of one of its expenses, or claims one of its bill's items for you, Falaky tells you in the app — who, which event and how much — and that member sees whether you accepted it or said it isn't yours. Anyone can leave a group at any time; what they added stays in the group.
- A transaction's place (optional): you can note where a transaction happened — a name, city and country you type or that a bank message states, and, only when you tap “Use my current location” with the app open, your phone's location at that moment. It is stored with that transaction and synced like the rest of your content. Falaky never reads your location in the background, never on its own, and a transaction saves the same without a place.
- Crash reports (technical): some builds send crash reports (via Sentry) so we can fix bugs. These contain technical stack traces only — they are configured to exclude your content, amounts, messages, and identifying information.
We collect no advertising identifiers and no analytics profiles, and no location data beyond the places you choose to attach to a transaction.
2. Transaction import (bank messages and payment notifications)
Falaky can optionally turn bank messages into transactions. This is off by default and only works when you switch it on:
- Paste: you paste a bank SMS yourself; it is parsed on your device.
- Share an e-mail (while “Bank e-mails” is on): you share a bank’s e-mail to Falaky from your mail app; its subject and text are read on your device, like a pasted SMS.
- Notification capture (where available): after you grant Android’s Notification access, Falaky reads payment notifications from wallet apps (Google Wallet, Samsung Wallet) and messaging apps — nothing else — to suggest transactions.
- A notification for each payment found (optional, per source, off by default): when you turn it on in Settings, Falaky reads a captured payment the moment it arrives — briefly, in the background, on your device — and shows one notification for it, from which you can import it, keep it for later or dismiss it. Nothing is uploaded, nothing syncs from the background, and a locked phone’s screen never shows the amount.
In all cases: parsing happens entirely on your device; the text of your messages and notifications is never uploaded to our servers and never logged. When you confirm a suggestion, its full text is kept on that device only, with the transaction it became, so you can read it again there; it is deleted with the transaction, and a dismissed suggestion's text is deleted for good after 30 days. The details read from the message — such as the sender, the card ending shown, the merchant, the payment method, the place and the limit stated — are saved with the transaction and synced like the rest of your content. In the Falaky app from Google Play, every suggested transaction requires your explicit confirmation before it enters your records. Falaky Vast and Falaky Dev can also add a payment they find by themselves, marked “Needs review” for you to check — you can turn that off in Settings → Transaction import.
Purchases in another currency. When a bank message states only the foreign amount, Falaky estimates what your bank will charge from a rate and the fees you entered for the account, marks it “≈ est.”, and replaces it when the bank's own figure is known. The rate comes first from your own earlier messages, on your device; otherwise Falaky asks a public reference-rate service (Exchange Rate API, open endpoint) once a day for that currency. That request carries only the currency code — never an amount, an account, your identity or any cookie — and the answer is cached on your device so estimates work offline.
Bills and their items. You can keep a bill’s photos or PDF with a transaction or a group expense: they stay on your device only, inside its encrypted database, and are never synced. The items you add (name, count, price, category) are part of your transactions and sync with them. In Falaky Vast and the test builds you can also have a bill’s items read for you: only when you tap “Send to AI to read the items”, and only after you allow it once, that bill’s pages — and nothing else — go through our server to Anthropic’s AI service, which reads them and answers with the lines it found. Falaky does not keep the pages after the answer, and nothing from the vault or health is ever sent. You can withdraw this in Settings → Privacy.
Bank statements. In Falaky Vast and the test builds you can open your bank’s own statement files — spreadsheets, PDFs or photos of their pages — and Falaky reads them on your device; nothing of the file leaves it. When Falaky’s own readers cannot read part of a statement, you can ask AI: only when you tap Send, after you allow it once (separately from bills), and only what they could not read — the rows left unread and the descriptions nothing could place, or for a kind of file Falaky does not know its column headings and the shape of each column, never a value. Every number is masked on your device first: account, card and phone numbers become #1, #2…, and amounts become their shape (9,999.99). It goes through our server to Anthropic’s AI service, which answers which column or line holds what. Falaky does not keep what was sent; it keeps only how many tokens you used that month, to hold each account to its monthly limit. Your other transactions, other accounts, whole files, photos, the vault and health are never sent. You can withdraw this in Settings → Privacy.
AI help with categories. In Falaky Vast and the test builds, when Falaky imports a payment at a place whose category it cannot tell — and you never categorized a payment there yourself — it can ask AI which category fits — only after you turn on “AI help with categories” in Settings → Privacy, separately from bills and statements. Then, when the app or the Review screen opens, it sends the names of such places as the bank’s message wrote them, with every run of four or more digits hidden on your device first, and whether money went out or came in. Each place is asked about once; a later payment there takes the same answer on your device. It goes through our server to Anthropic’s AI service, which answers which of Falaky’s own categories fits; the answer goes on the matching category of yours and is marked on the transaction for you to check. Amounts, accounts, card numbers, the messages themselves, people, dates, your category names, the vault and health are never sent. When AI is sure of a place money went out to, our server keeps the place’s name (digits hidden) and that category in a list shared by everyone who uses this feature, with nothing that links them to you or to when you paid, so that place is answered from the list without asking AI again — always as an answer to check. Money received and answers AI was not sure of are never kept. Falaky keeps nothing else on its server — only how many tokens you used that month, shared with reading statements under one monthly limit; the places asked about are listed on your device in Settings → Privacy. You can turn this off there at any time; the shared list holds nothing that identifies you.
3. Falaky Vast
Falaky Vast is a build of Falaky distributed outside Google Play, by link from falaky.app/vast. It is the same app, with the same account, the same data and the same backend as the Falaky app from Google Play — a change made in one appears in the other — plus what that build does not include:
- SMS inbox: after an in-app explanation and Android’s permission prompt, Falaky Vast reads the SMS messages on your phone to find payments. If you say “Not now”, nothing is read.
- SMS as it arrives: only while you have turned on notifications for bank SMS (section 2), and after Android’s permission prompt, Falaky Vast reads each new SMS when it arrives, so a payment can be found and notified at once.
- Payment notifications: as described in section 2.
- Apps you pick: only while you have turned on “Bank app notifications”, and after an in-app explanation, Falaky Vast also reads the notifications of the apps you tick in Settings → Apps to watch — your bank’s app, or a mail app — to find payments in them; anything else in them is dropped. To show you the list to pick from, it reads the names of the apps you can open on your phone, on your device only.
Messages and notifications are read on your device only. A payment message waits on the device as a draft until you review it; only a transaction you confirm is stored in your records and synced to your account. Non-financial messages are never kept, and the text of a message never leaves your phone.
Because no store updates it, Falaky Vast checks — at most once a day, and when you open Settings — whether a newer build has been published. The check is an ordinary download of one small public file from GitHub, where Falaky Vast is published: it carries no account, no identifier and none of your content, but like any web request it reaches GitHub with your device’s IP address and a generic app signature, under GitHub’s own privacy terms. Everything else in this policy applies to Falaky Vast unchanged, including your rights in section 7: you can export your data and delete your account from Settings, and the deletion covers what either app stored.
4. What we never do
- We never sell your data or share it with third parties for marketing.
- We never read your messages or notifications without your explicit opt-in.
- We never use your financial content for advertising or profiling.
5. Service providers
We rely on a small number of processors strictly to run the service: Supabase (authentication, database, sync) and Sentry (crash reporting, technical data only). Falaky Vast is published on GitHub, which serves its downloads and its daily update check (section 3). Daily reference exchange rates come from Exchange Rate API (exchangerate-api.com, open endpoint): the request names a currency code and nothing about you (section 2). Anthropic (its AI service) reads a bill’s pages, and the masked parts of a bank statement Falaky could not read, when you ask for it, and the masked names of places whose category Falaky cannot tell, while AI help with categories is on (section 2), as a processor: they are sent for that reading only. Google sign-in, if you choose it, is governed by Google’s own terms.
6. Security
The local database is encrypted at rest (SQLCipher). Sync uses TLS. Authentication tokens are kept in your device’s secure storage (Keychain/Keystore), and two-factor authentication (TOTP) is available in Settings.
7. Your rights
You can delete your account — and with it everything stored on our servers — from Settings → Account → Delete account; the copy on your device is wiped at the same time. You can export everything Falaky holds for you as one file from Settings → Your data → Export data, or request a copy by emailing us at the address below. We aim to honor requests within 30 days.
8. Children
Falaky is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
9. Changes & contact
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above changes with it, and material changes will be announced in the app. Questions or requests: hassan.bayo.dev@gmail.com.
Falaky Dev.
Vast
للأسئلة والطلبات: hassan.bayo.dev@gmail.com.
